About the movement

We bring stillness into adversarial spaces.

Founded by litigators and a former judge who burned out, mindfulnessinlaw.org translates contemplative science into tools a busy docket can actually use: three-breath resets before cross, mindful listening for clients in crisis, ethical pause protocols for high-stakes decisions.

Live practice

A 5-minute reset for your next hearing.

  1. Arrive (1 min): Feet flat, spine tall. Name 3 sounds, 2 sensations, 1 breath. You are here.
  2. Soften (2 min): Inhale 4, exhale 6. Drop shoulders on each out-breath. Unclench jaw, hands.
  3. Intend (2 min): Ask: “What does justice need from me right now?” Listen. Proceed kindly.

Questions

Skeptical? Good. You’ll make a great lawyer-meditator.

No religion, no jargon, no 60-minute homework. Just practical attention training built for billable hours and courtroom nerves.

Quiet meditation
Is this religious or spiritual?

No. Our curriculum is secular and evidence-based, drawing from MBSR, cognitive neuroscience and legal ethics. People of all faiths — and none — practice with us.

How much time does it take?

10 minutes daily moves the needle. Courses ask for 20 minutes + one live 75-min session per week. Micro-practices (30-90 seconds) fit between calls and hearings.

Do I get CLE credit?

Yes, in 32 U.S. jurisdictions for ethics / wellbeing / professionalism. We provide certificates and reporting help. International CPD letters on request.

I’m anxious / ADHD / can’t sit still. Will this work?

Especially for you. We teach chair, walking and standing options, trauma-sensitive language, and you can keep eyes open. Stillness is a skill, not a prerequisite.

What does it cost?

Daily sits are free. Foundations is $349 with pay-what-you-can and public-interest scholarships. Firm trainings are scoped per team.
